  1. Synopsis:
  2.    $connect(<host> <port>)
  3.  
  4. Technical:
  5.    This function opens a raw TCP connection to the specified remote host on
  6.    the specified remote port.  It returns a unique file descriptor for the
  7.    connection that can be used by DCC RAW to communicate with the host.
  8.  
  9. Practical:
  10.    This function attempts to open up a TCP socket to the given host on the
  11.    given port.  DCC RAW is used to read and write data from and to it.
  12.    This function effectively permits EPIC to act as a client for any
  13.    TCP service.  In the past, people have used it for direct finger, whois,
  14.    and simple ftp access.

  16. Returns:
  17.    file descriptor for connection, or nothing if error
  18.  
  19. Examples:
  20.    $connect(127.0.0.1 25)           connect to your local mail server
  21.    $connect(ftp.neato.org 21)       connect to an EPIC ftp site
  22.    $connect(0.0.0.0 0)              error (no such host/port)
